Project: Brooklyn Housing for Women

Location: Brooklyn, NY

Taking an existing 19th century building on Brooklyn’s Atlantic Avenue, the goal was to redesign the existing apartments and storefront into a temporal shelter for underprivileged women and children.

For my proposal I developed a design program that focused on empowerment for women, through career assistance placement and “Dress for Success” retail space. Individual work included the redesign of each floor into functional and efficient living space. In my proposal, versatility and comfort is achieved through modular furniture, movable walls, and lush exterior garden.
